Let the Challenge Begin!

"I can't go on any more bad dates with this online dating thing," I said to my mom one late August night. "I'm resorting back to bar hopping. Maybe I'll just wear a name tag to give all the important facts right up front...37, single, never married, no kids, debt free, like to swim and sing, available for dates. Anything has to be better than online."

That's how it started. Before I realized it was 2:00am and I had created a Meetup Group, started this blog, did a lanyard mock up and started coming up with interesting blog topics such as "why", "messy", "consume", and many more. Below is what I posted that night on Meetup.com for a social/writing challenge for the month of September.

Hey everyone, I’m Kelly! I have attended many Meetups, but this is the first one I’m coordinating. I hope you’re interested! It’ll be a fun one! 😊 This Meetup group is for writers who are willing to step out of the box and into something unusual and probably a little uncomfortable for the next 30 days. It’s a blog challenge…and you’re challenging yourself. There is no payment, no promise of acknowledgement, no glory…just an experiment in self-confidence and a general social/writing exercise. You can write whatever you want about your topic in whatever style you prefer. Simply start with the general theme of your topic.

The Plan
1. Meet with the group where each person will select one of the provided topics. No two topics will be the same. Your topic is just a platform to begin your writing. The lanyard is to encourage interest and conversation with anyone who encounter.
2. You will receive a plastic lanyard and a card template to complete and be emailed the final version.
3. Go home and create your new blog.
4. Email Kelly your blog address and she will put your link on her 30 Day Blog Challenge blog.
5. September 1st begins the challenge. The writer will...
    a) Wear your lanyard throughout the day, unless it interferes with work or dress codes
    b) Make a point to be “out and about”, not too much time at home
    c) Try to blog every day, or as often as possible throughout the 30 days
    d) Group support – If you have time, read the other’s blogs for moral support
6. October 1st ends the challenge. If you can make it to the meetup group to debrief on the experience, a cup of coffee is on me (Kelly).

There are 10 brave, female writers participating and I can't wait to see where this part social-part writing challenge takes us. Click on the blogs below to get direct access to each blog. There will not be any more postings from this blog until the 30 Day Blog Challenge is over. Happy reading!
